What Is the Sora Video Generator?
Sora is OpenAI's video model. This page is not OpenAI's site. Genreel is an independent third-party tool, and it is not affiliated with OpenAI. You can run Sora 2 here without a ChatGPT account and without a ChatGPT subscription. The generator opens on Sora 2: 4, 8 or 12 seconds at 720p, with sound generated on every clip.
Sora 2 is built for a short shot with the sound baked in. There is no audio switch and no separate audio charge. Sora 2 Pro, in the same model list, uses the same three lengths and adds 1024p. Neither model takes a last frame or reference uploads. A longer scene belongs on Seedance 2.5, which runs to 30 seconds. A 1080p or 4K deliverable belongs on Veo 3.1 or Kling 3.0.
OpenAI's own Sora site and ChatGPT are a different product. What this page offers is the model in the same prompt box as Veo, Kling, Seedance and Grok Imagine, on the same credit balance. The generate button shows the price before you start.

Step 2
Write one shot, including the sound
Describe who or what is on screen, the single action, and how the camera moves. Sora 2 always generates audio, so name the sound in the same sentence. Twelve seconds is the longest clip, so one action that finishes inside it reads better than a sequence.
Step 3
Set length and ratio
Choose 4, 8 or 12 seconds. The default is 4 seconds at 720p: 180 credits. Eight seconds is 350. Twelve is 520. Switch to 9:16 before generating if the clip is for a Reel or Short. On Sora 2, resolution does not change the price because 720p is the only option.

Generate and download
Press generate and wait while the clip renders. Preview it in the browser, download the MP4, or change one line of the prompt and run it again. Every result is saved in your account. Failed renders return their credits automatically.
Sora Models, Specs and Credit Cost
These are the Sora settings in the generator today. Sora 1 is not in the picker. The two models are Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro. The generate button shows the live credit cost for the length you have selected.
This page opens on Sora 2 at 4 seconds and 720p. That clip is 180 credits, and the sound is included. Eight seconds is 350 credits. Twelve seconds is 520. Sora 2 has no other resolution, so the price does not change with a resolution switch.
On the Lite yearly plan, 24,000 credits are included and the displayed rate is $0.00445 per credit — about $0.80 for that 4-second Sora 2 clip. Sora 2 Pro at 4 seconds is 520 credits at 720p, about $2.31, and 860 credits at 1024p. The pricing page lists the current rate.
New accounts receive 40 free credits. That covers one Wan 2.2 Fast clip at 480p for 5 seconds. It does not cover Sora 2 or Sora 2 Pro. The cheapest Sora clip in the picker is the 4-second Sora 2 render at 180 credits.

Sora 2, Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Grok Imagine and Seedance 2.5 can all make a clip from a prompt. Sora 2's difference on this site is access: you run it without a ChatGPT account. The models still disagree about length, resolution and sound.
Clip length
Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro are 4, 8 or 12 seconds. Veo 3.1 is 4, 6 or 8. Kling 3.0 is 3 to 15. Grok Imagine is 1 to 15. Seedance 2.5 is 4 to 30. A scene that needs room is not a Sora shot.
Resolution
Sora 2 is 720p only. Sora 2 Pro adds 1024p, not 1080p and not 4K. Veo 3.1 is 720p or 1080p. Kling 3.0 reaches 1080p with a 4K option. Seedance 2.5 is 480p or 720p. Grok Imagine tops out at 720p.
Audio
Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro generate sound on every clip. There is no switch and no extra charge. Grok Imagine works the same way. Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0 and Seedance 2.5 treat sound as a switch. On Veo and Kling, turning it off lowers the price. On Seedance 2.5 it does not.

The default Sora 2 clip — 4 seconds, 720p, sound included — is 180 credits. Eight seconds is 350. Twelve is 520. Sora 2 Pro at 4 seconds is 520 at 720p and 860 at 1024p. A 5-second Grok Imagine clip is 160. Draft on Wan 2.2 Fast, where 40 credits buys one 480p, 5-second clip, then spend the Sora credits on the shot that needs the sound.
Sora Prompt Tips
Sora 2 clips stop at 12 seconds, and the sound is always part of the render. The prompt has to earn both. Five habits that hold up in the generator:
Write the sound in the same sentence
There is no switch to turn audio off, so a silent prompt wastes the pass. Name the sound where it happens: "the lid clanks, then street noise" tells Sora 2 what the clip should be heard as.
One action, finished inside 12 seconds
"She lifts the lid and steam rolls out" fits. "She cooks dinner" does not. If the action needs longer than 12 seconds, that shot is not a Sora 2 shot.
Name one camera move
Locked-off, low side angle, slow push-in. "Cinematic" is not a move. On a 4-second clip, one held frame is often the right choice.
Set 9:16 before you generate
Sora 2 offers 16:9 and 9:16. Pick the vertical ratio in the parameters panel if the clip is for a Reel or Short. Cropping a 16:9 file afterwards throws away the frame you paid for.
Use Pro only for the sharper frame
Sora 2 Pro costs more at the same length, and 1024p costs more again. Draft the action on Sora 2 at 4 seconds. Move to Pro when the picture has to be sharper, not to find out whether the prompt works.
A pattern that fits 4 to 12 seconds: "[Framing] of [subject] in [place]. [One action with an ending]. The camera [one move]. [Light]. [Sound]."
